5 Favorite Camera Accessories for Bloggers

HUGE apologies for my lack of posting lately, I'm in the process of starting a new job and I wanted to make sure I was giving the training/onboarding process my full attention last week! BUT, it did give me time to do osme brainstorming for content I want to create, starting with this list of "must have" camera accessories if you're a content creator! Now, I dont have all of these, yet, so some of them I'm basing on research I've done on my own, sharing some items that are on my wishlist!

I've been shooting with a Nikon D3300 for a little over a year now, and it's been such a great change for my blog. Now when i look at pictures from when i was #iPhone only, I kind of cringe. It probably doesn't help that my phone is about 2 years old, so maybe if I had a different one, the camera might be better. But, if you're a blogger looking for a few camera accessories to make your life a little easier, this is the list for you!

1. Camera Remote

As someone who lives on her own, and doesn't want to pay to hire a photographer for photo sessions, getting a remote for my camera has been a GAME CHANGER. I don't know why I didn't do it sooner. Gone are the days of setting a 10 second self timer, running across my room, throwing myself into the most effortless looking pose that I can, and making sure everything is adjusted just so, in TEN SECONDS. No more nearly broken ankles for this gal.

I got this one on Amazon for less than $10

2. An extra battery.

This one might seem a little on the nose. But a second camera battery this year has been such an awesome addition to my camera bag/desk. This way, while I'm shooting with one, the other one is charging, and then when the one I'm shooting with dies, the other is ready to go! Such a huge time saver!

3. A 50mm Fixed Lens

This is kind of the go to "blogger" lens, because its great for really sharp images (from what i've heard/read, the fixed part of the lens means fewer moving parts, and no moving parts means less vibration to cause the image to be fuzzy). It also means that you can't "zoom" in closer to what you're photographing, you have to physically move closer to it.

4. Something That I have on my list - An Artificial Lighting Kit!

An artificial lighting kit would be so helpful! Not only would it let me tae pictures on cloudy days, but it would also be great for shooting rooms that don't get a whole lot of natural light! Which, for me in this old house, is the entire east side(my living room, hallway, guest room, bathroom, guestroom, etc.) I've got this one on Amazon marked on my list, and it's less than $60!

5. Adobe Lightroom

Adobe Lightroom is by far my FAVORITE editing tool, as I talked about in my Photo-Editing Tips for Bloggers post last month! You can do SO MUCH with it, and creating/buying presets is a great way to add a choesive feel to your photography!

That's all folks! I know this isn't the be all & end all of lists, and I'm sure there are some things that I forgot, so I'd love to hear what you think is essential for blogging! Let me know in the comments!

xo, Lauren
